If you watched episode 102 of Diggnation then you probably saw the little PSA that Kevin and Alex did at the end of the show talking about people downloading Diggnation early from rehosting websites (mainly one in particular). This resulted in a large debate, in the Rev3 forums, about early downloads and whether it was really worth it to pay Rev3 for that and barely any special premium members content. Another item that was brought up was that many people download the episode early from the rehosting site and then download it AGAIN from Revision3 a couple days later when it becomes available to the public (thus ensuring that they still get "points" or whatever with their advertisers). You'd think that Revision3 would welcome discussion on this issue so that they could find out what their userbase is thinking, right? Wrong... well sorta.
At first, the initial topic about the subject was thriving. It seems as if the mods just got sick of it after a while and decided to lock the topic. One mod in particular, phatlip12, began to get annoyed when people pointed out that he had the grammatical skills of a 12 year old. The topic was ended with this post by phatlip12: "Alright, this has gone on long enough and episode 102 has gone and past. Downloading episodes of Diggnation early without paying hurts Revision3. The CEO of Revision3, the show hosts and the forum staff is telling you this. You can take it or leave it." So much for civil discussion, eh?
So now we're at the point where the mods lock any topic regarding paying for early Diggnation downloads, rehosting sites, or anything regarding the debate that went on in the initial topic. This is RIDICULOUS. They shouldn't censor entire subjects of discussion like this just because a part of the userbase thinks that they are in the wrong for once. The entire point for them even having the Revision3 message boards is to encourage discussion about the shows and now they lock any topic on site that even mentions this subject?
I thought that Revision3 was different from the big media companies because it listened to the users, but now they're shutting us out. Please, digg this up if you want to let them know that this sort of thing is NOT what we expect to get from Revision3.
